FOR APPLYING ON TRAINING GENDER EQUALITY AND GENDER MAINSTREAMING
Podgorica, 3rd -6th March 2015.
The training for trainers will provide the participants with the knowledge of gender equality /gender mainstreaming and equip them with the practical steps and knowledge how to pass their knowledge further and carry out trainings in this field.
Gender mainstreaming, in simplified version, means that the impact of all policies and programmes on women and men should be considered at every stage of the policy and programme cycle - from planning to implementation and evaluation.
Participants will acquire/refresh knowledge and gain skills in:
- Defining gender, gender concepts and terminologies.
- Using selected gender mainstreaming tools and their application, used by various CSOs, UN Agencies, IGOs and governments.
- Assessing the integration of gender into their own organisation and monitor gender equality programming using checklists and tools.
- Defining howgender mainstreaming has an impact on and benefits international development and humanitarian programming (optional).
- Methods and tools in transferring knowledge and carrying out own trainings in the field of gender equality and gender mainstreaming.
For whom the training is intended:
The training is indented for everybody interested and committed to carry out their own training within its own organisation or for broader audiences, including for staff of local and government and non-governmental organisations, development practitioners, gender focus points or academic institutions interested in gender equality. Some level of understanding of gender equality field is welcomed, but it is not necessary.
Training methodology:
The training is aimed at participants, who wish to disseminate knowledge of gender mainstreaming within their respective organisation or to a broader audiences. Participants will be introduced to the Manual for trainers on gender mainstreaming, which contains step-by-step instructions how to carry out the training in gender mainstreaming for different audiences and different training needs. The participants will first act as participants receiving the training. After each exercise and training module there will be a discussion about the exercise, practical tips how to carry out the module and presentation of the supporting documents (power points, hand-outs, manual instructions, etc.). There will be also specific time allocated to discuss challenges organisations face in gender mainstreaming internally and challenges the trainers might face in the context of Montenegrin society. The participants will also prepare a plan of action and a draft outline of their own training.
