We are proud to present very first members of the Public Policy Institute Board of Trustees. Endorsement certificates are handed to Mario David and Philippe Douste-Blazy in Rectorate of the University of Belgrade.
Mário David was born in 1953, in Luanda, Angola. He finished Faculty of Medicine in Lisbon in 1977. Mário David is a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) in the VII Legislature (2009-2014), elected by the Portuguese Social Democrat Party (PSD, EPP member). He is also the Vice President of the European People's Party (EPP), elected recently for his third term, where he is the Co-Chair of the Foreign Affairs Working Group.
Philippe Douste-Blazy is United Nations Special Advisor on innovative financing for development, with the rank of Under-Secretary-General. He is widely regarded as one of the world’s foremost experts on innovative financing to reach the Millennium Development Goals. In 2006, he was elected President of UNITAID. Douste-Blazy has held several ministerial positions in his native France, including Minister of Health, Minister of Culture and Communication, Minister for Solidarity, Health and Family and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Prior to embracing policy initiatives, Douste-Blazy was a practicing cardiologist and Professor of Public Health at Toulouse University in France.
The Board of Trustees is an international joint ruling body of the Public Policy Institute. The PPI’s Board of Trustees assembles exceptional intellectuals, internationally recognizable officials, experts and scholars with indisputable reputation.
The Board of Trustees is a stronghold to the PPI’s scientific capacities, political legitimacy and credibility of its proficiency and expertise. Members of BoT ought to inspire liability in Institute’s research programs, public deliberations and political advocacies.
We strongly believe that contribution of our honorable BoT will induce irreversible processes, steady societal reforms and many-sided modernizations of all Western Balkan states.
