Projects

Non state actors and resolution SB UN 1325 in Montenegro
Project Role of Media in monitoring of R1325 in Montenegro
Location Role Donator/Financial sources Duration
Montenegro Implementing organization OSCE, UNDP April 2013 - March 2014.
Project goals

Involving civil society organizations and media in the consultation process with institutions and developing the National Action Plan for R SC UN 1325 Women, peace and security.

In order to develop a National Action Plan/Agenda for Implementation of Priorities outlined in R 1325 Montenegro has ratified UN SC R 1325 in 2008. Since then, there has been certain progress made in different areas of improving women position in both security sector and other levels of human security of women in general. This improvement is however mainly related to the adjustment of old and passing of new gender-sensitive laws, but what remains a challenge is the implementation of these laws. Montenegro is, next to Albania, the only country in Western Balkans that has not developed a National Action Plan for implementation of R 1325 Women, peace and security. There is no baseline study made in Montenegro when it comes to the different roles and activities of stakeholders and actors in implementation of priorities of R1325. Coordinated approach to implementation of R1325 recommendations is completely missing. The goal of the project is to involve CSOs and media in the consultation process with institutions and develop the NAP for R SC UN 1325.
